scuba diving is incredible. lorna and i finished enough training today to be certified as scuba divers. she’ll continue for open water certification and i plan to be back in the next few months to do the same.

we saw more fish and dove longer than i expected — two 40 minute open water dives. the sensation is very peaceful and i was quite thankful for the comfort i’ve developed with deep breathing, thanks to yoga.

this island is wonderful. our hotel had a great pool, beautiful surroundings and cool people to meet. we ate a lot of great food and partied a bit.

tomorrow i’m back to guatemala to meet sarah.

my first two weeks in xela were great. the travelers and locals i met are very cool and i´ve been pleasantly surprised by what the city has to offer. i had a 90 minute thai massage the other day for an obscenely affordable amount of money… to provide just one example. ,-)

it took a while to adjust to not having my own place and kitchen (after 7 years in my own apt.), but i´m enjoying getting to know my host family and very much appreciate the three real meals that are prepared for me every day. …sitting down for a proper meal at a table is something i barely even did for dinner in the last few years.

with two weeks of immersion done, i´m off to the beach (utila, honduras) to meet up with lorna and a couple other friends. i´m definitely going scuba diving with them for 3 or 4 days and may stay longer — they´re planning white water rafting and other fun stuff. i´m then back to guatemala city to meet sarah who will be here for about 10 days. woohoo!

on my way to la ceiba, where i am currently, i had a stop-over in antigua and a lay-over in copan, honduras. both were beautiful but i had a bit more time in copan and the ruins were amazing! i can´t wait to upload my photos and see them bigger than on the li’l lcd screen of my camera.
